Forest (And An Angel Was Born)
This is a song that was written in memory of Matthew E. Cruz. In April of 1999, 8-year old Matt was tragically killed by a fallen tree branch, while playing on the playground at York Village Elementary School. At the time of his death, Matt was developing a strong friendship with Tom's son Zachary Hoatson. Tom wrote this song, in hopes of providing some level of comfort to the Cruz family, as well as the local community, in their continued healing process.
This song is an original Christmas Carol written and performed by Tom, and features the beautiful lead vocal's of Kim Hoatson, as well as piano playing by the Reverend Rich Knight, from York's First Parish Congregational Church. This song is often heard at the annual concert at the First Parish Church, called "Christmas in the Village."
